U.S. Chamber of Commerce Launches Commission on Competition, Inclusion, and Innovation

On January 18, 2022, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced the launch of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Commission on Competition, Inclusion, and Innovation to advance the United States' position in the use and regulation of AI. The commission is made up of academic and AI experts from the public and private sectors.

In the announcement, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Suzanne P. Clark, discussed all of the benefits of the use of AI, including "developing new medical treatments, identifying cyberthreats, expanding opportunities for the underserved, and making communities safer and more prosperous.”

In pursuit of that goal, the commission will gather “thought leaders with experience in government, industry and civil society” to discuss the role of AI and the challenges that its adoption presents. With the creation of this commission, many institutions should expect regulatory and legislative shifts surrounding the use of these technologies and should be sure that their organization is prepared to ensure compliance with all of these changes.
