PACE Comes to Dallas County

On October 4, 2022, the Texas PACE Authority (“TX-PACE”) announced that the Dallas County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a motion to establish a county-wide Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program. As such, all businesses and nonprofits operating out of Dallas County, Texas are eligible to access financing for energy and water saving improvements to their properties through the program.

According to TX-PACE,  the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy’s Energy and Building Market Assessment Tool “identified 25,240 commercial buildings in Dallas County with more than 890 million square feet that qualify for PACE financing.” In addition to outlining the county’s eligibility potential, TX-PACE advised Dallas county business owners that a “$2.7 billion investment in energy saving measures would result in $3.9 billion in savings[,]” as well as economic and environmental benefits to the county in the form of new jobs and community revitalization.

Dallas County is now one of 81 Texas local governments to establish a local PACE Program.
