Patrick J. Kennedy Jr.

Mr. Kennedy has spent his entire career providing legal guidance and creative solutions for banks, bank holding companies and their directors, officers and shareholders on corporate, regulatory, mergers and acquisition, capital raises and debt financing.

His practice also includes tax credit finance utilizing New Markets and Historic tax credit programs on federal and multi-state levels. He has represented and structured numerous complex financings for non profit project sponsors including universities, churches and other nonprofit entities.

William (Dub) Sutherland V

Dub represents both established and start-up private companies, financial institutions, non-bank lenders, and investment funds in day to day management. He also handles transactions, as well as all phases of the business life-cycle – including formation, acquisitions and dispositions, mergers, conventional debt financing, equity and debt securities offerings. In addition, he is experienced with commercial negotiations and transactions, executive compensation plans, and corporate governance.

Dub spent time early in his career in executive management positions in both the banking and manufacturing industries. He now approaches client matters with the same “owner” mentality he used while on the business side and a focus on efficient problem solving.

Leroy Ramos

Partner

Leroy Ramos handles a wide range of legal matters for clients.  He helps financial institutions in the commercial lending process and helps bring products to market by navigating an ever-changing legal and regulatory environment. He also counsels companies in everyday matters, including securities offerings and corporate governance.  Leroy enjoys playing chess and running, and is happiest when watching the Milwaukee Bucks with his wife and kids.

Patrick Kennedy III

Partner

Patrick III focuses his practice on tax, real estate, and business transactions. Based in Los Angeles, he has extensive experience structuring complex transactions combining tax incentives, such as New Markets Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Renewable Energy Tax Credits, and Opportunity Zones, with state tax credits and other financing sources in a variety of community development transactions. Patrick has represented institutional investors, lenders, developers, nonprofit organizations in transactions across the country. In addition to his tax credit financing and real estate expertise, Patrick regularly advises privately owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations on federal and state tax planning for partnerships, corporations, and tax-exempt entities.

Jason Shoup

Jason Shoup is a new associate attorney but has over a decade of legal experience most recently with a local Intellectual property firm. Jason has experience in a broad range of industries including assisting businesses with acquisition and sale transactions, private placements of debt and equity securities, financing transactions, SEC compliance, private equity investments, employee compensation plans, corporate governance, and other general corporate matters. Jason also has experience in assisting financial institutions in mergers, acquisitions, holding company formations, regulatory reporting, and applications. He is currently working towards a certificate as a data privacy specialist. Jason is originally from Boston and remains an avid Boston sport fan catching all the major Boston sports team’s games on a daily basis.

Michael Finley

Daniel Koehl

Chief Financial Officer

Daniel Koehl is a certified public accountant (CPA) who worked in public accounting as a financial statement auditor for 13 years prior to joining Kennedy Sutherland LLP in June of 2018. As Chief Financial Officer, Daniel oversees the firm’s financial management through his involvement in treasury management, financial reporting, payroll and incentive compensation management, and productivity reporting/monitoring. Daniel strives to be a team player who pitches in where he can regardless of how big or small the task might be. Daniel enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and being with his wife and 3 young children as much as he possibly can.

Rebecca Lopez

Rebecca Lopez is a native Texan that has been a part of the Kennedy Sutherland team since June 2018. Her hybrid role with the firm comprises accounting, administration, and people services. Rebecca always strives to improve the flow of the KS team, and she lends a helping hand wherever the opportunity arises. In addition to visiting Texas State Parks with her husband, Rebecca enjoys music, skydiving, and just about any outdoor activity!

Bradley Klein

Chief of Staff

Bradley joined Kennedy Sutherland in 2020 having earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University – Idaho. Currently, Bradley serves as the Chief of Staff where he has been making significant contributions to the continued success of the company and its affiliates. Bradley works directly with our Founding Partner, Pat Kennedy, assisting with all day-to-day operations.

Apart from his professional commitments, Bradley is also an avid cyclist, a fitness enthusiast, and a food lover.

Spencer Kachmar

Executive Assistant

John “Spencer” Kachmar joined the Kennedy Sutherland team in late 2022. Spencer currently acts as an assistant to the executive team at Kennedy Sutherland, helping with various tasks at the firm. Spencer also collaborates closely with the affiliated bank and development company, working to engage with and push projects through at various levels, as well as submitting federal grants and applications, most through the CDFI Fund.

Born and raised on an Island off the coast of Maine, Spencer enjoys sailing, skiing, the outdoors, and escaping the Texas heat whenever he gets the chance.

Kelli Huston

Paralegal

Kelli Huston joined Kennedy Sutherland in July of 2023 after completing her Paralegal certification from UTSA’s PaCE program. Her role as paralegal has her juggling many hats for the team and using her attention to detail and efficiency to help the team run smoothly. She has extensive knowledge in banking and mortgage loans, which helps her with her daily tasks. Kelli enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, watching her kids play sports (golf and volleyball), watching the Astros play baseball and enjoying a nice patio day.
